A Likely Overproportional Response

So there's this video that shows a cop beating a 15 year old girl senseless after she took off her shoe in a petulant way. You might have seen it. Thanks to the wonders of context-based advertising, viewers get to see the best fitting ad on youtube!

i fear that the double entendre with the overproportional response was not clear enough :(

Adding this, of course, to my collection of Unfortunately Placed Ads!

This made my day

The unforgettable experience of the first public showing of debris (for which I made sound effects) with audience reactions. I sat in the middle of the crowd and it was an awesome, emotional experience. Thank you Magic for uploading this video!

I wish I could paint like that...

But at least I can provide the soundtracks for the incomparable feeb (whose vocals, as you may remember, are featured in FR-025)!

Here's the song in mp3 format.

And #2:

(Full song here)

Man, feeb's amazing.

Too awesome for words

I spent the last four days about 6 meters away from Dennis (the guy in this video) and do you think he said a word? Damn, son. A guy from the US (thanks Amish!) sent me the link to this video.

Turns out you can tune a scanner as well

Not just giant Tesla Coils can be used to make music. A much more readily available synthesizer is this Scanjet:

Democracy means demos rule

I scouted around Youtube for a bit, a wouldn't you know it, some of the demos and intros I worked on are on there. Check this out:

fr-022:ein.schlag

The first production that I directed (I also did the music and some of the graphics). My initial goal was a scene change on every drum beat, but the result is fine as it is.

Download fr-022. Preview:

fr-049: of spirits taken

This was the invitation to breakpoint 2006. The party had a running theme, it told a story of which this was the first part.

Download fr-049 or watch the preview:

fr-052:platinum

I had a lot of fun making the music for this 64k intro.

Download fr-052 or watch it here:

... and then there's also this, which is a story for another time :)

Step to this

A couple of years ago, I won a demoparty with a song called Identity. Bee and Char made a Stepmania stepfile for it, which you can download here. Here's a video of it in action:

And you can of course get the normal mp3 from here as well:

The Popular PINGU?!!

I have no idea who made this, or why, or even when, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Thank you, Jacksoft, this is awesome!

And, just as a reminder, the original:

Wonderful (if unofficial) Autechre video

Now, if you know me, you know I'm not a big Autechre fan. BUT! This video by Stefan Ringelschwandtner (also known as Diver of Monostep fame) is really, really good. The music gives a lot of hooks and cues, and the editing and imagery is really powerful. The analog special fx remind me a bit of what I've seen of The Fountain so far, with chaotic water impurities in macro vision.

Check it out at his site!

In which I present the most elaborate (probably) animated gif I ever made

And you can be pretty fucking sure that I'll NEVER EVER do something like this again. EVER.

Please note the retarded amount of stuff that I needed to animate. Please realize that I used ImageReady for the whole thing and that every character and every coloring is on a separate layer. Please note the rather underwhelming outcome (not really, please think it rocks!)

I'm particularly proud of the clever use of ASCII characters to make a car that spells "car". I'm not particularly proud that this animation depicts a foetus being hit by said car, catapulted into a tree, falling to the ground, then bleeding to death.

Just so you know: the amount of work I stupidly put into this gives me the right to file it under video. >:(

& really looks like a foetus
