I've made a couple of 64k intro soundtracks, and the most essential criterium for a successful intro track is the size. The whole thing needs to fit into 64k, and usually less than a fourth or so of this is allotted to the music. That's why kb wrote the farbrausch V2, a realtime synthesizer system made especially for 64k intros. It's a full-featured subtractive synthesizer, and I use it to create all the sounds in a song, including the drums (always a challenge! Most people use samples for drums).

One of these small songs is here, packaged in a stand-alone player, 14kb in size. Yes, 14kb. For an almost 4 minute long song. Download it here. For those of you who are not on a Windows PC, or don't trust random exe files from the internet, I've made an mp3 version, which kinda defeats the purpose of creating a small version in the first place, but whatever :) Oh, and by the way, Tidex is a name I sometimes use to release music, it's all me :)
